About us
What started as a small idea, rooted in the love for authentic Mexican flavors and culture, has grown into something truly special. Hilcias ‘Kia’ Garcia immigrated to the United States in 1970. After working in various roles, he eventually secured a well-paying position in wholesale grocery. Through this opportunity, he connected with store owners, distributors, and business professionals, who introduced him to the intricacies of the grocery industry.
El Nopalito was born in 1983 out of a passion for sharing the rich culinary traditions of Mexico, where every bite tells a story. From humble beginnings, we’ve always focused on bringing you the freshest ingredients, the most vibrant flavors, and an experience that feels like home.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and for letting us bring a taste of Mexico into your lives. Here’s to many more years of sharing delicious food and great memories together!
¡Gracias por su apoyo!
In addition to our delicious tortillas, our Market features homemade tortilla chips, a fresh meat and seafood selection, and an array of vibrant salsas ready to complement your meals. Stock up on Mexican cheeses, fresh nopalitos, ready-made sopes, and a variety of spices from our spice wall. Don’t forget to grab corn husks for tamales!
At the restaurant, indulge in traditional dishes like “pollo en mole,” “costillas de puerco en salsa verde con nopales,” and “barbacoa,” all served with beans, rice, and hot corn tortillas. With a salsa bar featuring five varieties, plus pickled carrots and jalapeños, you can customize your meal to perfection.
We also sell fresh guacamole, salsas, tortilla chips, and tamales (pork, beef, chicken, and chile con rajas) daily. For a fun family project, pick up prepared masa to make your own tamales at home. And if you love our mole, you can order it in pint or quart sizes for your own enchiladas or chilaquiles.
El Nopalito is the heart of the local Latino community, and we invite you to experience the true flavors of Mexico with us!
